Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Akshaya Posha LLC (“Ninth House”, “we”, “us”), the company that operates the Ninth House website, apps, and reading services (the “Services”), collects and uses your personal information. Akshaya Posha LLC is the controller of your personal information.

Ninth House is currently offered as a beta. This policy works alongside our Terms of Service.

What we collect

We collect the information needed to give you a reading and run your account:

Birth details — the date, time, and place of birth you enter. These are central to every reading.
Account information — your email address and login credentials.
Your questions and messages — what you ask and the readings generated for you.
Payment information — processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment and your balance, not your full card details.
Basic technical data — limited information your device sends automatically (for example, IP address and browser type) needed to operate and secure the Services.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

Generate, explain, and store your readings.
Create and maintain your account and balance.
Process payments and prevent fraud or abuse.
Respond to your questions and provide support.
Keep the Services secure, reliable, and working, and fix problems.
Meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

AI and your data

Readings are generated with the help of automated systems, including AI language models provided by our AI provider. To generate your reading, the relevant inputs (such as your birth details and question) are sent to that provider solely to produce your reading.

We do not use your birth details, questions, or readings to train AI models, and we do not permit our AI provider to train its models on your data.

Our legal basis (EU/UK users)

If you are in the EU or UK, we process your personal information on these legal bases: to perform our contract with you (to deliver readings and run your account); your consent (for processing the birth details you choose to provide); our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Services and prevent abuse); and to comply with our legal obligations.

You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us or closing your account; this does not affect processing already carried out.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

Service providers who process data on our behalf — our AI provider (to generate your readings), Stripe, Inc., United States (to process payments), and Railway, Inc., United States (hosting and database infrastructure) — under agreements that limit their use of your data to providing their service to us.
Authorities or other parties where we are required to by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
A successor entity, if Ninth House is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (your information stays subject to this policy).

How we store and protect your information

Sensitive information — including your birth details, readings, and messages — is encrypted at rest. Access is restricted to authorized personnel and the automated systems that generate and store your readings.

No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information.

If a data breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by applicable law, including within 72 hours of becoming aware where GDPR or UK GDPR applies.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and personal information at any time. We will delete it within 30 days of your request, except records — such as payment and tax records — that we are legally required to keep, which we retain only for the period required by law and then delete.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you.
Correct information that is inaccurate.
Delete your account and personal information.
Receive a copy of your information in a portable format.
Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent.
Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you have the rights to know, delete, and correct your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law. To exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@ninthhouse.app.

Where your information is processed

Ninth House operates from the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States. If you use the Services from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed there. Where required, we put appropriate safeguards in place for international transfers.

Information about other people

If you enter another person's birth details, you confirm that you have their permission to do so. If you are the person whose details were entered and you did not consent, contact us at privacy@ninthhouse.app and we will delete them promptly.

Children

Ninth House is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Cookies

We use only the cookies and similar technologies needed to sign you in, keep your session secure, and operate the Services. We do not use them for third-party advertising.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will note them and update the “Last updated” date shown at the top of this page.

For changes that materially affect how we use your personal information, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before they take effect, or obtain your consent where the law requires it.
